Link a Case UPC to a Single Item

If an item is ordered and received in a case (or other package containing multiple selling units), the case UPC must be linked to the single item UPC to avoid conflicts in inventory and min/max quantities.

Example: Consider a type of ammunition that is sold by the box but ordered and received in a case containing 10 boxes. If the box (single item) UPC is properly linked to the case UPC, the system will adjust inventory quantities appropriately:

• If a case is received, the box’s QoH is increased by 10.
• If a case is sold, the box’s QoH is decreased by 10.

Complete the following procedure to link a case UPC to a single item UPC.

Note: Each unit (case and single item) must have a unique UPC or item number.

1. Log in to the IMS application and select Data > Item from the menu bar to display the Item window.
2. Double-click the desired case item in the list to display its Edit Item window.

3. Click the Setup tab to display it.

   

4. Click the Lookup button beside the Linked Item field to display the Linked Item Lookup window.
5. Click (select) the appropriate single item in the list and click the OK button to close the window and populate the Linked Item field.
6. Enter the number of single units in the case in the Link Qty field.
7. Enter desired case unit values in the Min Qty and Max Qty fields. (Do not set min and max values for the single unit.)
8. Click the OK button to close the window.
